Liam Neeson is Calling it Quits on Action Movies

Liam Neeson has announced his retirement from doing action movies, which means we won’t get to see any more Taken sequels.

Liam Neeson has become one of the most recognisable action stars in the last decade. It was a slightly odd career move for those of us who remember Neeson’s work in films like Schindler’s List and Kinsey.

It all started when he demonstrated his unique set of skills as retired CIA field operative Bryan Mills in Taken and became young girls’ dream father all over the world, as well as showing us that he really knows how to kick ass on-screen.

This resulted in a slew of Taken sequels, as well as a handful of other action movies, and solidified Neeson’s position as one of the most watchable action movies stars working today. Well, that’s all about to come to an end as Neeson announced his retirement from the movie genre. Yep, that’s right – no more Liam Neeson action movies.

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.

I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Neeson announced this sad news during an interview with Sky News at the Toronto Film Festival. “They’re still throwing serious money at me to do that stuff.  I’m like: ‘Guy’s I’m sixty-fucking-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go: ‘Come on.’ ”

Never fear however. You’ll get to see Neeson kick generic bad guys’ butts in two more action movies, The Commuter and Hard Power – both of which are set for release in 2018 – yet they will be his last.

One good thing to come out of this news is that they will no more Taken sequels. They started to become very tedious by the end and how many times can members of the Mills family really be ‘taken’. They need to hire a team of bodyguards. However, that franchise did give us one of the most dramatic monologues ever seen on-screen.
