Leaked Star Wars: Episode 9 Script Reveals How Leia Was Originally Going To Die

Ever since watching J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, I haven’t stopped wondering what Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars movie would have looked like, and now we might have a better idea thanks to a recently leaked Episode 9 script.

I’ve got to say, that after hearing what Trevorrow had in mind for Episode 9, it would have sat with me better because it didn’t retcon what Rian Johnson did in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

After having read the leaked script, I can tell you that there was no redemption arc for Kylo Ren. There was no living Emperor Palpatine, and there was the revelation of the deceased Sith Lord’s real master, whom Kylo goes in search for.

It really is an interesting read, and I actually believe that it’s the genuine article. I wonder whether Trevorrow might have leaked it himself after having watched Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and thinking, “my ideas were much better”.

There are multiple drafts of Trevorrow and his co-writer Derek Connolly’s script circling around the Internet, however Making Star Wars has reportedly found the real deal.

They break down the script in a recent article, and they shared that the movie, which was going to be called Star Wars: Duel of the Fates (a much better title).

The previous drafts of the script which have been making the rounds online were dated prior to Carrie Fisher’s death in 2016 and this latest one seems to have been a revision after that happened.

According to Making Star Wars, Trevorrow responded to her death by writing out General Leia in a similar way to what happens in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

In Duel of the Fates, the Resistance was forced to flee from Kylo Ren and The First Order and Leia was killed during the battle.

It was then revealed that Kylo Ren, who was having to be nursed back to health after the battle in a distant world, could feel his mother’s passing and was angered by her death.
