Joker Has Now Made More Money At The Box Office Than Batman V Superman

Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has been something of a box office sensation. I highly doubt that anybody at Warner Bros. ever thought it would make as much money as it has done.

As of writing this article, Joker has made $1,049,054,740 at the worldwide box office (according to Box Office Mojo), and that means that it has made more money than DC Comics’ Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice didn’t quite manage to hit the $1 billion mark. It made $873,634,919 at the worldwide box office, which is fine, but a bit under what Warner Bros. Pictures had projected for the film.

That said, it seems as though it’s all evened itself out because nobody predicted that Joker would make over $1 billion at the box office.

Zack Snyder’s film had a massive opening weekend, however, it then suffered a huge drop off because people didn’t tend to go and see the film at the cinema multiple times.

This is where Joker seems to really have succeeded. It’s getting repeat viewings, which is something that films like Batman V Superman, Justice League and Suicide Squad didn’t really get.

People just can’t get enough of Joaquin Phoenix’s take on Joker (a.k.a. Arthur Fleck) in the latest DC Comics movie, which isn’t tied to the rest of the films in the DCEU.

There has been talk of a sequel, but it seems as though Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix are still trying to sort out their contracts with Warner Bros. Pictures.
