Joker 2 Is Already In Development

People just can’t get enough of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Todd Phillips’ Joker movie is making serious money at the box office and there are now reports that Warner Bros. Pictures is already developing Joker 2.

Joker has garnered some negativity for a whole host of different reasons. Some people were worried that the film might incite violence. Others felt it was a negative representation of mental illness. Some people felt that it ventured too far away from the comics, and others just thought that Arthur Fleck was a bit too whiney.

All of these criticisms have some element of truth to them (apart from the inciting violence ones. Films don’t make people violent. Society does), yet personally, I felt that Joker was a pretty darn good movie, and I was gripped from start to finish.]

It looks like Joker 2 is being fast-tracked

That’s a personal opinion on the movie, and I expanded on it in our full Joker review which you can read here. However, people are still going to see the movie despite all the criticisms and bad press it’s been getting.

It looks like the film might be able to his $1 billion at the box office which is crazy considering it was made on a relatively small budget of $55 million.

It had been reported that Warner Bros. gave Todd Phillips such a small budget because they didn’t really want the film to be made and they were hoping he’d say he couldn’t make it on that budget, but he did, and they must be happy he managed to.

Now, there are reports courtesy of one of We Got This Covered’s sources, that Warner Bros. is already developing the sequel, which we will call Joker 2 for now.

I highly doubt that will be the film’s final title.

They already reported that it would take place years after the first movie. It would also carry on Arthur Fleck’s journey to becoming the most infamous villain in the DC Comics universe.

Joaquin Phoenix had already expressed interest in returning to the role of Arthur Fleck, even claiming that he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about the role since shooting finished.
