John Krasinski Already Has Life Of Mars Lined Up As His Next Directing Project

John Krasinski will be directing Life On Mars next which will be adapted from Cecil Castellucci’s short story, We Have Always Lived on Mars and it’ll be produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes.

John Krasinski wasn’t quite a directorial newbie before A Quiet Place hit cinemas. He had directed a few things before, but nothing on the scale of his latest horror flick. A Quiet Place demonstrated that Krasinski is not only great in front of the camera, but also behind it and that he can direct things on a large scale. He teamed up with Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes, who up until now had been known for making rather shoddy remakes of classic horror movies. Yet, with Krasinski, it looks like they’ve found a new lease of life.

Platinum Dunes have already claimed that they’re not going to be making horror remakes anymore and it looks like Krasinski’s A Quiet Place may be behind that decision. Now we’re learning that they are looking to acquire to movie rights to Cecil Castellucci’s short story, We Have Always Lived on Mars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krasinski brought the book to his new friends at Platinum Dunes (Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller) and it looks like they want him to direct the picture.

As far as we know Krasinski will only direct in this film. He won’t star in it. At the moment they are looking for a writer to pen the project. The story centres on a woman “who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. The woman one day finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists.”

There’s no word on when this film will come out yet or when it’ll start shooting. After having thoroughly enjoyed A Quiet Place, I cannot wait to see what Krasinski does next.
