J.J. Abrams Loved Quentin Tarantino’s Pitch For A Star Trek Movie
Quentin Tarantino recently revealed his idea for a Star Trek movie to J.J. Abrams and he loved it so much that they might do it and Tarantino could direct.
Quentin Tarantino is very busy working on his next feature film which will concentrate on the Manson murder spree in 1969, yet apparently, he wants to take even more on. According to Deadline the writer/director pitched an idea for a new Star Trek movie to J.J. Abrams and he loved it. He loved it so much, in fact, that they are already getting a writers room together to listen to Tarantino’s pitch so that they can start writing the movie.
J.J. Abrams is already hard at work on Star Wars: Episode IX who came onboard the project after Colin Trevorrow and Lucasfilm went their separate ways. This means that the director is pretty much booked solid for the foreseeable future. That said, Deadline reports that Tarantino could end up directing this Star Trek picture for Paramount Studios.
What a crazy world we live in. It’s no secret that Tarantino is a big Trekkie and people have been speculating for years regarding what he could do with the franchise. Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond was fine but it didn’t quite recapture the magic of Abrams’ first movie and with the Star Wars franchise picking up steam again, Paramount needs to do something to make their space franchise relevant again. Star Trek: Discovery demonstrated that there’s still a demand for Star Trek, especially when it turns out as good as Discovery ended up being.
Of course, it’s very early days so there’s no release date to report, yet the mere fact that Paramount seems to be taking Tarantino’s vision seriously is a very good sign. Would you like to see Tarantino direct a Star Trek movie? Let us know in the comments below.
