Gotham Finally Officially Introduces DC Comics’ Most Infamous Villain, The Joker

They’ve been teasing him for such a long time, but The Joker has finally been officially revealed in Gotham Season 4. About time guys!

WARNING: SPOILERS for Gotham Season 4.

This is the reveal that we’ve been waiting ever since we first saw Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Valeska burst onto the scene. From the minute we saw him, everybody was thinking, “he’s gotta be The Joker”, but the creators insisted that he wasn’t and that he was just a “prototype”, whatever that meant. It kept going on like that for quite some time, with Jerome coming back from the dead with a Joker-esque scare on his face, yet even then, the creators told us that he’s not The Joker.

This back-and-forth went on for quite some time until eventually, Gotham’s writers gave us what we were waiting for this whole time. It’s only taken four seasons, but we finally have the show’s official Joker, and it turned out to be Jerome’s twin brother, Jeremiah. What a plot twist, eh! It’s like something straight out of a telenovela.

But how did this happen? Well, when Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon finally filled Jerome, we thought that would be the end of it. However, unbeknownst to Jim, Jerome had sent his twin brother a little present which turned out to be a Jack-in-the-box which exuded a toxic gas that turns the person to inhale said gas into a murdering psychopath, a.k.a. The Joker.

The whole thing is very Gotham. It’s over-the-top and very silly. However, it just works for the show, and people love it (myself included). I’m really looking forward to seeing where they take the character and to see what awful things he has in store for the poor people of Gotham. I just always think, “Why on Earth do people still live in this city”. House prices must be really low.
