Doctor Strange Might Be More Than A Cameo In Thor: Ragnarok

Could Doctor Strange end up being more involved in Thor: Ragnarok than we first thought? Looks like we might be getting to see more of Benedict Cumberbatch in Strange’s Cloak of Levitation.

SPOILERS for Doctor Strange’s post-credits sequence coming up by the way.

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, I’m going to tell you in advance that this article will be giving away what happens in Doctor Strange’s post-credits sequence. OK, so in this post-credits sequence we got to see a rather amusing scene between Strange and the God of Thunder himself, Thor, in the Sanctum Sanctorum, where they’re discussing Thor’s mischievous brother Loki. At first I thought this just meant that we would be getting a Strange cameo, but it sounds like he’ll have more than just a fleeting appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

A new plot synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok has appeared on D23’s website, which is the official Disney fan club website, and it teases that Doctor Strange will be getting more than just a cameo. The new synopsis reads as follows, “Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.” This makes it sound like the Thor sequel will feature three superheroes for the price of one, which is always nice.

This news also means that we’ll get to see Benedict Cumberbatch back as the Sorcerer Supreme before the upcoming Avengers movie and the inevitable sequel to Doctor Strange. Thor: Ragnarok will also feature Jeff Goldlbum as The Grandmaster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Karl Urban as Skurge, and interestingly Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill, who’s role has yet to be confirmed (but I think he’ll end up playing one of the Elders of the Universe, The Trader or The Runner perhaps). Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Taika Waititi.

Thor: Ragnarok will in UK theatres on November 3rd, 2017.
