Disney Plus UK Release Date Has Been Pushed Forward And The Price Has Been Confirmed

The official release date in the UK for Disney Plus was March 31st, 2020, but it looks like that won’t be the case.

According to Digital Spy, Disney Plus’ release date in the UK has been pushed forward, which means that we’ll be able to sign up to the streaming service on March 24th, rather than the 31st.

This will also be the case in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria.

This is reason to rejoice because we’ve been waiting for quite some time to get Disney Plus over here and in many parts of Europe.

I’ve spoken at length about why it’s taken so long to get the streaming service over here in the UK and other parts of Europe, but it all boils down to Disney’s contracts with Sky and Comcast.

However, it seems as though they’ve managed to wiggle out of those contracts a little bit sooner than expected.

However, that’s not the only good bit of news regarding Disney Plus here in the UK.

We’ve also got a price for this new streaming service, and it’s a pretty good one.

It’s been reported that Disney Plus will cost £5.99/€6.99 per month or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription.

This makes it a lot cheaper than Disney’s closest rivals, Netflix, who’s price is still going up every year, and they don’t offer a yearly subscription which will save you quite a bit of money.

Offering a yearly subscription isn’t a bad idea because it will prevent people from doing what I refer to as ‘streaming service hopping’.

Instead, people will be locked into a full year of the streaming service, and they’ll feel like they’re getting a better deal, which they are, but it also means Disney gets to keep its subscribers.
