Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Says That He’s Going To Play Cable In Three More Movies

Josh Brolin, the man who’s bringing Cable to life in Deadpool 2, has revealed that he’ll be playing the role a further three time after this film.

Both Josh Brolin and Ryan Reynolds have played multiple comic book characters now. Reynolds initially played Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and he also suited up as the Green Lantern in the terrible Green Lantern movie in 2011. Brolin’s also had a checkered past in the comic book movie genre. We all know that we’re finally going to see him in more than just a cameo appearance as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but before that, we mustn’t forget that he was Jonah Hex in… Jonah Hex… Another terrible comic book movie that probably shouldn’t have been made.

However, the stars aligned for Reynolds when Tim Miller’s Deadpool came out and everyone realised that he was literally made for the role. Then Brolin was cast as Cable in Deadpool 2 and judging by all the trailers we’ve seen so far – as well as the reports that have come out of the test screenings – he’s sensational in the role. Brolin was recently chatting about his upcoming movie, Deadpool 2, with Empire Magazine (via The Playlist) and the actor revealed that he would be playing Cable in another three films after this one.

You do not want to get in Cables way!

You do not want to get in Cable’s way!

“We think about it in four movie terms. We tried to think of Cable as a full arc, not just in this movie, but in the trajectory of four films. That made it a lot more fun for me,” Brolin told Empire. This makes sense. They’ve come up with the character’s story arc and have fleshed it out over the course of four movies. Cable is a character who deserves a fleshed out story, and it looks as if we’re going to get it on the big screen.

We already know that one of those movies will be the X-Force movie which Drew Goddard is currently writing and will hopefully get the opportunity to direct. As for the other two films, we’ll probably have to wait a while to find out what they will be. With the Disney/Fox deal looming in the background, none of these movies set in the X-Men universe are set in stone. Hopefully, Disney will let Fox carry on with what they were doing before, and maybe they can simply streamline the process slightly and then we can avoid films like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: Apocalypse, both of which were real stinkers.

Deadpool 2 is set to hit UK cinemas on May 15th. Have you booked your tickets yet?
