Chris Rock Reveals His New Saw Movie Will Be Gory And Bloody

So, this was one of the strangest things I had heard in a while. Chris Rock is doing a Saw movie.

I know! It’s so strange, but then again, if you look at who’s starred in the Saw movies, you shouldn’t really be too surprised.

The very first Saw movie, which came out back in 2004 starred Cary Elwes and Danny Glover, two very big names for an independent horror movie.

Eight movies later, and they’ve decided to make a ninth Saw movie, but this one feels a bit different to the rest because they’re working off an original idea of Chris Rock’s.

Now I’m very intrigued. The movie’s currently being filmed in the name The Organ Donor, and I really hope they stick with it because I really like that title.

Darren Lynn Bousman is directing this movie, who was the director of Saws 2, 3 and 4. He’s also directed some other B movie horror films since, and he’s now returning to the Saw franchise.

To make this film even more confusing, it’s going to star both Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. Seriously, just take my money now.

Anyway, Rock’s opened up about the upcoming horror movie and explained how it’s not going to be a comedy such as Scary Movie, but there will be comedic elements in the film.

He told IGN the following:

“A lot of times I go to a movie or I watch a TV show and I go, ‘Wow, you know, two jokes would have made a big difference in that.’” Rock explained. “I love Saw, but I was like ‘wow, it has almost no humor at all.’ So, it seemed like a good place…good fertile ground…by the way, the new Saw, I’ve seen like a rough cut. It’s still Saw…it’s bloody, it’s gory, but there’s like a sprinkling of humor here and there. We’re not revamping it, it’s not Scary Movie, it’s Saw.”

This really has me interested. I’ve always been a fan of Rock’s work, and to know that they’re working from his original idea and that he’s starring in the movie has put this up on my list of movies I’m looking forward to seeing in 2020.

What do you think? Are you now looking forward to watching Saw 9, also known as The Organ Donor? Are you as surprised as I was to learn that Chris Rock’s going to be in it?
