Bumblebee Director Travis Knight Could Direct The Uncharted Movie Starring Tom Holland

The Uncharted movie has been in development hell over at Sony Pictures for what seems a lifetime now. Directors have come and gone, as well as stars.

At one point it looked like Mark Wahlberg was set to play the lead, but he was eventually replaced by Tom Holland after it was revealed that Sony wanted to focus on a younger version of Nathan Drake.

This particular take on the character is rather unusual, however, you do play as a young Drake in the third video game, and Holland is a much more interesting proposition than Wahlberg in my opinion.

Personally, I’d love to see them give the character to Nathan Fillion and just be done with it. He’s perfect for the role, but Holland seems to be a perfectly decent second choice.

It’s been reported via Deadline, that the director of the recent Bumblebee movie, Travis Knight, is now attached to direct.

I actually enjoyed the Bumblebee movie, and Knight showed some real talent with that film. I reckon he’s a good pick for the Uncharted film, which up until recently had Dan Trachtenberg at the helm.

Trachtenberg ended up leaving due to creative differences, which is a bit of a theme with this movie.

However, should he remain on-board, Knight seems like a pretty good replacement and could end up delivering a perfectly solid movie.

It would be interesting to see whether this film could end up stopping the video game movie curse and become the first genuinely good movie to be adapted from a video game.

We’ve waited a very long time for Hollywood to adapt one properly, and we’ve come very close with the likes of the Detective Pikachu movie and the recent reboot of Tomb Raider.

Both those films were perfectly fine, but I’ve yet to be blown away by a video game movie.

Here’s hoping that Knight and Holland can change that.
