Avengers: Endgame: Could Hawkeye Be The Key To Defeating Thanos?
Avengers: Endgame is just around the corner, and after the trailer landed, we’re asking ourselves how big a part Hawkeye will have to play in the upcoming Marvel movie?
Avengers: Endgame will possibly be THE cinematic event of 2019. Although the next Star Wars movie might have something to say about that.
Fans around the world are desperate to know how the remaining Marvel superheroes will try to defeat Thanos and bring back the other heroes and people who were dusted by the Titan.
With Avengers: Endgame’s second and possibly final trailer landing the other week, fans are excited to find out more about how Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, a.k.a. Clint Barton, will feature in this upcoming superhero extravaganza.
He was mysteriously absent in the previous Avengers movie, Infinity War, and it looks like he’s going to be slightly different in Endgame.
Fans of the movie franchise would have already heard that Renner will be playing Ronin, a more badass version of the Hawkeye character, in Endgame, and this could mean bad news for Thanos.
Hawkeye is not a man you want to mess with.
After Captain Marvel hit cinemas, people are naturally assuming that she’ll have something to do with the titan’s eventual downfall. However, could Ronin be the Avengers’ secret weapon?
It’s already been suggested that Hawkeye will have lost his family thanks to Thanos’ snap, and he’s not exactly a man you want to mess with.
A Hawkeye with a grudge is not someone to be taken lightly, and due to the fact that he has no apparent superpowers, apart from being good with a bow and arrow, Thanos might not think of him as a potential threat.
Yet, Hawkeye’s proven himself time and time again in both the comics and the movies capable of going toe-to-toe with some pretty formidable foes, and he might also be able to go under Thanos’ radar.
There’s also the fact that should the rumours that Hawkeye will lose his family after the snap turn out to be true, then he’ll truly be a man with nothing to lose, which is dangerous for Thanos.
He could end up being the John Wick of the MCU, which fans of the franchise will love to see.
Just think what could happen should Hawkeye decide to get a dog after losing his family, and that dog ends up being killed as a direct result of Thanos’ genocidal antics.
There are clear indications in the trailer that Ronin might be a bit of a loose cannon in this film.
I wouldn’t want to be in Thanos’ shoes should that happen.
Moreover, there are clear indications in the trailer that Ronin might be a bit of a loose cannon in this film.
There’s the moody shot of him in the rain, and it looks like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow might have to calm him down a bit.
In the comics, Clint adopted the identity of Ronin when he rejoined the New Avengers in the aftermath of Civil War, and he’s a lone warrior and takes a lot of inspiration from the Samurai.
In the movie, Renner’s Ronin could end up using his Samurai-like abilities to his advantage in a final battle against Thanos, who might not even see the hero coming.
It would undoubtedly be a fascinating way to go for the character, who’s seemingly been a bit forgotten in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Renner’s played him brilliantly, yet, he’s never really been given the room to show us what he can really do.
Sure, we’ve seen him be good with a bow and arrow, and he’s delivered a few good one-liners here and there, but he’s never done anything truly memorable, and the character and the actor deserve something more.
Just thinking back to what they did with Hawkeye in the first Avengers movie makes me shudder. He was brainwashed, and it really wasn’t a good use of the character nor the actor.
Here’s hoping that Marvel’s writers and the film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, would have something a bit more interesting in store for Hawkeye, a.k.a. Clint Barton, a.k.a. Ronin (boy, does he go by a lot of names) in Endgame.
It’s certainly been a long time coming!
Avengers: Endgame will be in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019. Are you looking forward to it, and who do you think will end up defeating Thanos?
