The Lighthouse’s First Trailer Sees Robert Pattinson And Willem Dafoe In Terrifying Action

The very first trailer for Robert Eggers’ upcoming horror flick, The Lighthouse, has arrived and it sees Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe in spooky action.

The Lighthouse quickly turned into one of my most anticipated films of 2019, and the hype grew tenfold following the incredible reception the film got at Cannes.

I have been following the career of both Robert Pattinson and Robert Eggers very closely. I genuinely believe that Pattinson is one of the most interesting actors working in Hollywood today, and his performances in the likes of Good Time, High Life and The Lost City Of Z are proof of that fact.

Then you have Eggers, who gave us one of the most bizarre and eerie films I’ve ever seen in The Witch. That was his first-ever feature and it was an actual masterpiece, and I do not use that word lightly.

The very first trailer for The Lighthouse is now with us and it sees Pattinson and Dafoe as two lighthouse keepers and it looks like they’re going to start losing their minds. It’s no wonder that this would happen given their remote and rather spooky location.

However, it looks like Pattinson’s character also has a secret, and Dafoe’s lighthouse keeper seems to want to get to the bottom of it.

It really is in keeping with Eggers’ previous film, The Witch, especially the look and feel of the trailer. The film is shot in a very boxy 6:5 aspect ratio, which is much like the films of old and is very rarely seen nowadays.

It certainly gives the film a sense of claustrophobia, which is interesting considering the fact that they are trapped on a rock in the middle of the sea.

I was excited for The Lighthouse before, yet this trailer has really got be eager to see it. I’m loving the current renaissance of horror we’re going through in cinema at the moment.

Eggers is part of a crop of new filmmakers delivering excellent horror movies, which includes the likes of Ari Aster, Jordan Peele and Jennifer Kent to name a few.
