The Equalizer 2: Denzel Washington Is Back Kicking Serious Butt In The First Trailer

Denzel Washington is back as the dangerous and highly-skilled assassin Robert McCall in the first trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 2.

You do not mess with Denzel Washington, especially not when he’s playing Robert McCall in The Equalizer franchise. Judging by The Equalizer 2’s first trailer, the first movie was just a little taster, an amuse bouche if you will, of what’s to come from McCall and what’s in store for those nasty people who deserve to be equalised. Antoine Fuqua is back in the director’s chair for this one, and it certainly looks like everything’s been turned up to eleven.

The trailer sets up the premise, which is a pretty simple one. McCall is back doing what he does best, assassinating bad guys in record times, until one day, one of his best friends, Susan Plummer (played by Melissa Leo), is murdered. Then all hell breaks loose, and McCall is out for blood. He will track the people behind her murder, and he will kill them. Unfortunately for him, and luckily for them, he can only do it one.

Denzel Washington as Robert McCall in The Equalizer 2

The first film was pretty solid and told the story of how McCall came out of retirement to save a young girl who had been kidnapped. Now that he’s pretty much back in the game, this movie seems to be much, much gorier than the first. The Equalizer franchise appears to be Washington’s Taken and people do like these types of movies. We enjoy watching old guys beat up a bunch of young, generally Eastern European, men.

The Equalizer 2 is set to hit UK cinemas on August 17th, stars Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman, and Melissa Leo, and could very easily become a summer hit. However, it’s got the likes of Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Incredibles 2 to contend with.
