The Batman: Willem Dafoe Thinks Robert Pattinson Would Make A Great Batman

Robert Pattinson’s co-star in his upcoming film, The Lighthouse, has revealed that he thinks the British actor would make a great Batman.

It’s official, at least, as far ad Deadline is concerned. Robert Pattinson will be playing Batman in the upcoming movie. It’s also been reported that he’s signed on to do a trilogy as the Caped Crusader, which is good news indeed.

However, there are still some people out there who don’t think he’s the right fit of the role. I’ve heard all sorts of reasons: he’s too thin, he played the vampire Edward in Twilight (to which I respond, so what?). I’ve even had someone comment on our Facebook page that he’s too British!

I couldn’t help but laugh at that one. I didn’t bother reminding the person that Christian Bale is British. You’ve just got to let some things go.

Anyway, as far as Robert Pattinson as Batman goes, I personally think it’s inspired casting, and his co-star on his upcoming film, The Lighthouse, seems to agree that he’d make an excellent Caped Crusader.

Cinemablend reported that when asked about whether Pattinson would make a good Batman, Willem Dafoe replied: “Listen, sure, why not? Why not? He’s got a strong chin. That’s a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don’t think so!”

He’s certainly got a point. Pattinson has a great chin, and in between him and Nicholas Hoult, Pattinson is the one with the better chin.

That’s not saying that Hoult shouldn’t be in the movie. There are rumours that he could be playing The Riddler, which he’d be perfect for. Just watch him in The Favourite. The guy’s an undeniable talent.

And, if there’s anybody who knows anything about starring in comic book movies, it’s Willem Dafoe, who played The Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie.

Meanwhile, why not have a read of our articles on the 5 ways Game of Thrones season 8 dropped the ball, and the 5 movies you should watch if you still think Robert Pattinson won’t be a good Batman.

You can also have a read of our reviews of Aladdin, Detective Pikachu, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Avengers: Endgame, Hellboy and Glass.

Anyway, The Batman, or whatever it’ll be called, is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2021, but that could change in time.

In the meantime, why not catch up on your Batman knowledge by reading some of the comics which you can purchase here! It’ll be worth your while, I promise.
