Thor: Ragnarok’s trailer dropped yesterday, and it got me thinking whether it could be Marvel’s best ever. The first thing I’ll admit is that out of all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Thor movies haven’t been up there with the best for me personally. I hugely enjoyed watching Kenneth Branagh’s first Thor film, but it still felt a bit lacklustre compared to Marvel’s other offerings. Then Thor: The Dark World came along, which is in my mind the weakest film in the MCU. However, bringing on Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s director, Taika Waititi, to helm the project was certainly an interesting decision on behalf of Kevin Feige and Co.. His unique blend of humour and pathos may very well be perfect for Thor, and the Thor ‘mockumentary‘ shorts they’ve been releasing on the Internet have been some of the God of Thunder’s best moments.
