Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Adam Driver May Have Accidentally Revealed A Spoiler About Rey’s Origins

Did Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Adam Driver just let slip a spoiler regarding Rey’s actual origins during an interview with GQ? Have a look at what he said below to decide for yourselves.

WARNING: There may be SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to follow.

People are desperate to know more about Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We’re even looking at Tawainees subtitles of The Last Jedi’s trailer to find clues regarding what’s really going. That said, Lucasfilm, Disney and all the film’s cast and crew have been very good at keeping spoilers to an absolute minimum, yet did poor old Adam Driver let a little detail about Rey’s parentage slip during an interview with GQ? We understand if you don’t want to know anything about the upcoming Star Wars film, but if you’re curious, then have a look at the quote in question below and decide for yourselves.

Here’s what Adam Driver actually said during the interview:

I remember the initial conversations about having things ‘skinned’, peeling away layers to evolve into other people, and the person Kylo’s pretending to be on the outside is not who he is. He’s a vulnerable kid who doesn’t know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he’s playing a role. JJ had that idea initially and I think Rian took it to the next level.

You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices.

Driver calling Rey a “princess” has been taken by many to be a reference to the fact that Rey is actually Leia Organa and Han Solo’s daughter, which many people had theorised might be the case beforehand. If this were to be the case it would mean that Kylo Ren is, in fact, Rey’s brother. So instead of hearing “I am your father”, like we Darth Vader said to Luke in Empire, might we hear Kylo say the line: “Rey, I am your brother”.

Honestly, I think this may end up being far too on the nose and would garner even more criticism with people claiming that The Last Jedi is just a rip off of The Empire Strikes Back. There are also scenes in The Force Awakens which seem to contradict the notion of Rey being Han or Leia’s daughter. Han spends a lot of time with her and would surely recognise his own daughter or at least have his suspicions of who she really is.

So I highly doubt that Rey will turn out to be Han and Leia’s daughter. Yet, there could be other royalty that Rey could be connected to. Driver certainly seems to be hinting at the fact that Rey is royalty in some way or another, but which royal family could Rey be from? Do you have any ideas? If so, let us know in the comments below.
