Solo: A Star Wars Story’s New Trailer Reveals That Chewbacca Is 190 Years Old

Solo: A Star Wars Story’s new trailer has landed, and in it, we discover that Chewbacca is 190 years old in the movie!

Solo: A Star Wars Story is just around the corner, so naturally Disney is starting to ramp up the film’s marketing. We’ve now just got a new trailer for the Han Solo origins movie, and it makes the film look like a lot of fun. There has been some criticism geared towards this movie. A few people are claiming that we don’t need a Han Solo origins movie, which is probably true, that said, I’m looking forward to watching a heist movie set in the Star Wars universe which just so happens to be doubling up as a Solo begins picture.

“You’re after something. Is it revenge? Money? Or is it something else?” Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra says this line at the beginning of the trailer, and I’m assuming she’s talking to Alden Ehrenreich’s Han here. A significant portion of this film will be devoted to telling the story of how Han became the Greedo-murdering rogue smuggler we meet at the beginning of A New Hope. Seems like he got in with a bit of a bad crowd before he met Luke, Obi-Wan and Leia.

One member of that crowd is Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian. We all know he ends up betraying his so-called best buddy, Han, in The Empire Strikes Back, but before that, according to Qi’ra, he was the “best smuggler around” as she says in the trailer. Surprise, surprise, Han isn’t the best smuggler in the universe, at least, not yet.

Yet, probably the most surprising thing to come out of this trailer, at least, for me, was to discover that Chewbacca is 190 years old in this movie, which would make him around 200 years old in A New Hope. This begs the question, how long can Wookiee’s live for exactly?

In any case, this latest trailer accentuates Solo: A Star Wars Story’s fun side. It brings to mind the cult TV show Firefly, and that’s certainly not a bad thing. Yes, despite all the controversy surrounding this film’s troubled production, I’m still hoping that Ron Howard’s Solo will turn out to be a good time at the cinema.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be hitting UK cinemas on May 24th, a whole day before it comes out in the US! Lucky us.
