Marvel’s Kevin Feige Says Their Next 20 Movies Will Be Very Different From What’s Come Before

Marvel’s boss, Kevin Feige, has revealed that they are working on a further 20 movies which will be very different from anything else they’ve done before.

We’ve been watching these Marvel movies for a while now. Everything changed for the company when they released Iron Man back in 2008. They are now easily the world’s biggest movie company and they’re making some serious money. Since the company was acquired by Disney they’ve just gone from strength to strength and have tightened their stronghold on the comic book movie genre, despite DC’s attempts to burst their bubble.

Avengers 4 will mark the end of the third phase of the MCU and with it the culmination of a 22 movie story arc. Marvel’s boss, Kevin Feige, is already planning Marvel’s next 20 movies beyond Avengers 4 and he’s said some interesting things about the next phases in the MCU. During an interview with Vanity Fair, Marvel Studio’s President said that Avengers 4 will, “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale. There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”

We already know that the next film in the MCU cannon to come after Avengers 4 is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but beyond that, we know relatively little. We do know that James Gunn is working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and will be the vehicle that launches this new phase in the MCU. No pressure. Feige has now revealed that they already have 20 films in the pipeline.

Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, also added that Marvel Studios is now, “22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before – intentionally.” Iger continued: “We’re looking for worlds that are completely separate — geographically or in time — from the worlds that we’ve already visited.”

This sounds very exciting indeed. Just imagine where the MCU could go next. The possibilities are endless. And now that movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vols 1 and 2 and Thor: Ragnarok have opened up the MCU to the cosmic galaxy, literally all the universes are Marvel’s oyster. Marvel has done a sterling job in building this share cinematic universe and they did it by focusing on the movies first, cinematic universe later. Maybe DC Comics and Warner Bros. could learn a thing or two from this approach.

The Russo Brothers’ as of yet untitled Avengers 4 movie is scheduled for release on May 3rd, 2019. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below.
