Black Panther’s New Trailer Gives Us A Closer Look At Wakanda

Black Panther’s new trailer has hit the web and it’s awesome! It also reveals some of the secret Kingdom of Wakanda which has used alien technology to their advantage.

“How much more are you hiding?” asks Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross in Black Panther’s new trailer. Turns out quite a lot. Marvel is really pushing the boat out with this movie. It’s easily one of their most ambitious projects to date and promises to be one of their best films yet. We were first introduced to Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, a.k.a. T’Challa, in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel hired Creed’s Ryan Coogler to direct the flick and Boseman stars alongside Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, who seems to have a grudge against the Wakandan royal family and has acquired a Black Panther suit of his own just with a bit more gold on it than T’Challa’s.

What’s really interesting about this trailer are all the scenes set in Wakanda, which a fictional African country hidden from the rest of the world through alien technology which they salvaged and repurposed. Black Panther’s cool suit is an example of this repurposed alien tech. After the events of Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa now finds himself as the ruler of this great nation and it seems as though he’ll be fending off Killmonger’s violent claims to the throne.

Judging by this trailer, Black Panther looks unlike anything we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; both visually and tonally. Even though there will undoubtedly be some scenes set in the US, most of the film seems to take place in Wakanda, which is bright and vibrant. Director Ryan Coogler said that he really wanted to lean on Black Panther’s African heritage and has taken inspiration from that in the character and set designs.

Black Panther also stars Danai Gurira’s Okoye as Dora Milaje, the leader of the royal bodyguards, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Martin Freeman will be reprising his role as Everett Ross and Andy Serkis will be getting a bit more to do as Ulysses Klaue.

Black Panther will be in UK cinemas on February 9th, 2018. How excited are you guys? Let us know in the comments below.
