Lucifer Has Been Renewed For A Fifth And Final Season By Netflix

Netflix has opted to renew Lucifer for a fifth and final season, and it’ll allow the creators to finish the story they wanted to tell.

It’s been revealed that Netflix has renewed Lucifer for its fifth season, but sadly it’ll be the show’s last.

Lucifer was previously on FOX, yet they cancelled it a year ago, but fan pressure persuaded Netflix to swoop in and save the show.

A similar fate happened to Brooklyn Nine-Nine which was saved by CBS, not Netflix.

This meant that season four of the procedural crime drama with a sadistic twist aired on Netflix, and they’ve recently announced that there will be a fifth season.

The show, which stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, has proven to be incredibly popular with fans and the first three season can be currently viewers on Amazon Prime Video here in the UK.

The show is based off a comic by non-other than legend Neil Gaiman, who has another celestial-based show airing on Amazon Prime in Good Omens.

Lucifer season 5 is happening!

Netflix recently released a statement, via Deadline, explaining their decision, and it’s been revealed that the show’s creators and writers will get to finish the story they wanted to tell.

“We’re thrilled that Lucifer fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for,” Netflix said in a statement.

The series’ executive producers also had something to say about the news of Lucifer’s final season airing on Netflix.

“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” series executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said.

“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”

Back when the show was cancelled, it was the number one trending topic on social media and Netflix didn’t take too long to pick up the series.

Season four has proven to be one of the show’s very best yet and fans will be excited to see how it’ll all end when season five airs sometime next year.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez and Kevin Alejandro.
