Here Is The Full List Of 2018’s Oscars Nominees

The list of nominees for this year’s Academy Awards (a.k.a. The Oscars) is in and Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water is leading the charge with 13 nominations.

We’re coming into February which means that it’s that time of the year when Hollywood gives itself a big pat on the back by dishing out awards. Don’t take me wrong, The Oscars is an important event in any cinephile’s calendar, yet the whole thing does seem a bit self-congratulatory.

2018 seems to be Guillermo Del Toro’s year. His latest film, The Shape Of Water, managed to get a grand total of 13 nominations and it looks set to win quite a few of them. Other films to be nominated in multiple categories includes Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk (for which Nolan was also granted his first ever Best Director nomination), Call Me By Your Name, Get Out, Phantom Thread, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri to name a few.

However, two big surprises for me personally were in the Best Animated Movie category in which Ferdinand and rather incredibly The Boss Baby were nominated. They are both now officially Oscar-nominated movies. I would have liked to have seen Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie or The LEGO Batman Movie nominated instead.

Appart from that, the rest of the nominees were rather predictable. You can see the full list of this year’s Academy Award nominees below.
