Dwayne Johnson Thinks That DC’s Black Adam Movie Will Begin Shooting Next Year

Dwayne Johnson says that he thinks that DC Comics’ Black Adam movie will start shooting in 2019, meaning that the film might come to cinemas in 2020.

Dwayne Johnson’s been attached to play Black Adam in the DC cinematic universe (I think they’re calling it the DCFU now – DC Film Universe…) for quite some time. However, we have yet to see The Rock play the popular DC Comics anti-hero, much to our disappointment. We initially thought that he’d turn up in the Shazam! movie which is now being led by Zachary Levy, however, that won’t be the case. There have been rumours suggesting that Johnson’s Black Adam will be debuted in Suicide Squad 2, but that’s not so sure now either.

But we’ve finally got some news relating to the Black Adam movie. During an interview with Yahoo! in which Dwayne Johnson was promoting his upcoming film, Rampage, the wrestler-turned-movie-star was asked about the current state of the Balck Adam movie, and he revealed that he thinks shooting will start in 2019.

We have been waiting to see Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam for a while now

“The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it. If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie, in production”, he told Yahoo!

The actor went on to praise how Marvel has managed to build an incredible cinematic universe, and he thinks that DC could do a similar thing starting with Black Adam. Black Adam is this phenomenal opportunity for us to nail the tone, make sure that he’s badass, make sure that we’re serving the mythology properly, but then, also make sure that we can have intrinsic DNA tied to a lot of other properties in DC. So, it’s not an easy thing to do, but I think we’re going to nail it”.

2018 is promising to be another big year for The Rock who’s starring in two films which have the potential of being big at the box office, Rampage and Skyscraper. If Johnson’s correct and Black Adam starting shooting in 2019, we could be seeing him make his DCFU debut in 2020, which is certainly something to look forward to.
