Duncan Jones Will Direct An Adaptation Of 2000AD’s Rogue Trooper

DUNCAN JONES, the director of Moon, Source Code, Warcraft and Mute, has revealed what his next project will be. He’s going to direct a comic book movie – an adaptation of 2000AD’s Rogue Trooper.

Duncan Jones has already proven what a promising director he is. His debut film, Moon, was a triumph and quickly became a cult classic.

He’s found it rather difficult to replicate the success of Moon in his following movies.

Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, was solid, but then he lost his way slightly with Warcraft and Mute.

He was hoping that Warcraft would break the video game movie curse, alas, it did not and we’re still waiting for the first genuinely good video game movie.

However, he has shown directorial flair, and all his films are full of fascinating ideas and glorious visuals.

It looks like the British direct is now going to enter the realm of comic book movies.

He had teased a big comic book movie announcement last week via his Twitter feed, and the other day he gave us all a pretty obvious hint as to what his next movie will be.

He posted a video on Twitter in which he’s sitting in front of his computer monitors and he’s reciting a poem through a voiceover.

Jones ends his little poem by taking off his hat and revealing a blue mohawk.

This, added with what’s he’s saying in the poem, all points towards his next project being a movie adaptation of 2000AD’s Rogue Trooper.

Rogue Trooper is Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons’ sci-fi comic book about a blue-skinned super soldier called Rogue who lives on Nu-Earth which is mostly toxic now due to chemical and biological warfare.

There had been some chatter that he might join the DCEU or MCU, but Jones has decided to do one for himself, instead of joining the big comic book movie corporations.

There’s no word yet on when Rogue Trooper will come out, but it might take a while.
