Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Is Getting A Female-Led TV Show Spin-off

It’s been revealed that Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune remake is getting a female-led TV show spin-off called Dune: The Sisterhood.

Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic, Dune, is coming to the big screen next year and Denis Villeneuve is directing it. The film will star the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård and Dave Bautista.

However, it looks like Warner Bros. are also keen to bring Dune to the small screen as well and it’s now been revealed they’re looking to make a TV spin-off of the movie.

Yet, this TV spin-off series will be female-led and will be called Dune: The Sisterhood and it will be coming to WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.

This news comes from Variety who reported that the spin-off series will serve as a companion series to the upcoming Dune movie.

It’ll portray the events of Frank Herbert’s novels through the eyes of the Bene Gesserit which is a rather mysterious clan of women.

It’s also been revealed that director Denis Villeneuve, who also directed the likes of Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival, will helm the series’ pilot episode.

He’ll then serve as an executive producer on the show, and he revealed in a statement: “The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me.”

He continued: “Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series.”
