Deadpool 2’s Final Trailer Calls Out The DCEU And X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Deadpool 2’s final trailer calls out the DCEU, as well as Ryan Reynolds’ first performance as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Deadpool 2 is my most anticipated movie of 2018. You can take your Avengers: Infinity War, you can keep your Aquaman, you can chuck out your Incredibles 2 (although I’m very excited to see it). All I want to see is Wade Wilson cracking wise and Josh Brolin’s Cable. Incidentally, I’m far more excited to see him as Cable than Thanos. All this makes me sound a little down of Infinity War. I’m not. I’m looking forward to it. It just doesn’t have the same hold over me as Deadpool 2 does.

Deadpool 2’s promotional material has been entirely on point, just like Deadpool’s was. They know how to market this film, and we’ve seen some genuinely brilliant trailers, teases and TV spots. Yet, I’m wondering whether this final full trailer might be the very best of the lot. Not only does it show how action-packed the movie is going to be, yet it also highlights the film’s humour, which seems to be much the same as the first film, only dialled up to eleven.

Is Josh Brolin better as Cable or Thanos? We will see.

In this trailer there are references to the fact that Brolin is playing both Cable and Thanos, Wade Wilson calls out the DCEU, LinkedIn, and he even takes a jibe at Ryan Reynolds’ first-ever turn as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They did something similar in the first movie, but with Reynolds’ other superhero performance as Green Lantern in the awful Green Lantern movie. Now, that was a bad movie.

Deadpool 2’s set up seems to be that Cable is from the future and has seemingly come to kill Julian Dennison’s (Hunt For The Wilderpeople) flame-wielding mutant. However, Deadpool isn’t so keen on this idea and tries to protect the boy by bringing together a team of highly-skilled individuals (well, most of them at least), which he refers to as “a super-duper fucking group”, who eventually become known as X-Force. They’re basically like the X-Men only they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty, or covered in blood.

Deadpool 2 is coming to UK cinemas on May 15th. Have you got your tickets yet?
