Aquaman Hits 1$ Billion Making It The Highest Grossing DCEU Movie Ever

Aquaman has done it! It’s managed to break the $1 billion club, and now joins a very exclusive club.

Aquaman has become the first DCEU movie ever to hit that mark, and the execs at Warner Bros. and DC Comics will be very pleased that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman has proven to be so popular with fans across the globe.

The James Wan movie was a pretty drastic change tonally from what came before it in the DCEU and could mark a change in the tide for these comic book movies.

It’s become the 37th movie in history to make over $1 billion at the bobble box office.

That said, it’s not the first DC Comics film to hit that mark. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Night and The Dark Knight Rises also managed to make over $1 billion, yet they only just made it.

At the rate Aquaman is going, it certainly does look like it’ll make more than those two movies and could end up becoming the highest grossing DC Comics movie of all time, which would be quite a feature for this particular superhero.

It had been a running gag that an Aquaman movie would never be any good. The only live-action version of this character we had before Wan’s film was Vincent Chase’s in the American TV show, Entourage.

Aquaman is now the fifth movie from 2018 to cross the $1 billion mark after Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Incredibles 2.
